What is Promptchan?
Promptchan is an image-first adult generator with a large community gallery where you can clone any public creation's settings, plus chat and story modes. Video, voice calls and custom characters sit on the Pro plan.
The community gallery is the killer feature
Promptchan's public gallery lets you open any shared creation and clone its full settings — prompt, style, pose — then tweak. For beginners that is the fastest way to learn what works; for experienced users it is a library of starting points. One review counts more than 20 million items. No other tool in our ranking has a learning loop this strong.
Controls for people who like to fiddle
Style families (realistic, anime, cinematic, art), pose controls, negative prompts and face consistency give you real art-direction power. Each prompt returns a grid — two images on Plus, three on Premium, four on Pro, per one review. If you enjoy iterating on a prompt until it is exactly right, Promptchan rewards that.
Plans every 28 days, not monthly
Note the billing cycle on the official page: every 28 days, which works out to thirteen charges a year rather than twelve. Plus is $14.99 with 100 gems, Premium $23.99 with 400, Pro $33.99 with 800 plus unlimited casual-quality generations. Promotional prices may appear at checkout.
Reliability and support
Reviewers are split between the product and the company. The image engine gets strong marks; support, billing and silent feature changes do not. A Trustpilot page shows a 4.3 average from 196 reviews, but one reviewer argues many five-star reviews look solicited. Practical advice from those reviews: screenshot your gem balance, use self-serve cancellation, and remember crypto payments are reported as non-refundable.
When to choose something else
If you want video without paying for the top tier, look at GeneratePorn.ai. If you want anime with consistent characters, compare SoulGen (Promptchan vs SoulGen). If you want a companion, Promptchan's chat is described as an afterthought next to Candy AI.
Free plan in practice
The free account gives starter gems, chat messages that refill every few hours and one-time bonus tasks for extra gems, according to the official FAQ. That is enough to clone a handful of gallery creations and decide whether the style range suits you. It is not enough to judge video, which only exists on Pro.
Companion features
Chat and Story modes exist and voice calls arrive with Pro, but reviewers consistently describe them as a side feature. One notes that switching between chat and roleplay modes erased the conversation. Treat Promptchan as an image tool that can chat, not the other way round.
Who should pick Promptchan
People who enjoy art-directing an image, learning from others' settings and generating in volume. If that is you, reviewers recommend going straight to Pro rather than juggling gems on Plus or Premium.
Getting good results fast
- Browse the gallery for a style you like and clone it.
- Change one element — hair, outfit or setting — and regenerate.
- Add negative prompts for recurring flaws.
- Use pose controls instead of describing poses in text.

Our scoring, explained
8.7/10: top-tier creative control and the best learning resource in the category, held back by opaque per-action gem costs, video locked to Pro and a run of support complaints.
Promptchan plans, from the official pricing page
| Plan | Price | Gems | Key extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Starter Gems | Image creation, AI chat, community gallery cloning |
| Plus | $14.99 / 28 days | 100 | 2× chat usage, HD images, basic poses and styles |
| Premium | $23.99 / 28 days | 400 | 5× chat usage, more poses and styles |
| Pro | $33.99 / 28 days | 800 + unlimited casual generations | Unlimited chat, AI video with extend and voice, custom characters, 4K, custom poses, voice calls |
Paid plans get 50% off extra Gem purchases. Some actions have their own cost: a voice message is 1 Gem and a voice call 2 Gems. Full-length AI video, including extend, is a Pro feature. Promptchan runs on the web, iOS and Android, and subscriptions can be cancelled in account settings, running to the end of the paid period.
The free account in practice
The FAQ says a free account gets a few free Gems, free chat messages every few hours and one-time bonus tasks that earn more Gems, with no card required. That is enough to test the image engine and the clone-from-gallery workflow, but not video.
